Possibility Playground will be built by volunteers from the community using donated materials and tools in an old-fashioned barn-raising September 17-21, 2008.
In the space of five days, a small army of untrained but enthusiastic volunteers will transform the empty patch on Port Washington's bluff in Upper Lake Park into something magnificent: our universally accessible, community-designed and volunteer-built playground. Construction consultants from the playground's designer, Leathers & Associates, along with volunteer construction captains from the community, will oversee quality and efficiently lead hundreds of volunteers. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels will work side by side, and will come and go as their schedules permit, working anywhere from a few hours to all five days. Our food committee will provide food and our childcare committee will care for children at the Port Washington Yacht Club to allow parents to participate.
